Aerosmith To Play Free Concert

April 27th, 2009

joe_perryAerosmith has reached a settlement with fans after the band cancelled a sold out Maui show back in 2007 and will perform a free concert in Maui to the original ticket purchasers.

The fans who filed the lawsuit against Aerosmith, alleged that the band cancelled the show in Maui, which was sold out to 8,300 people, for a more lucrative show in Chicago and a private performance to Toyota dealers in Oahu.  The suit also claimed that concert goers lost anywhere between $500,000 to 3 million dollars in travel costs, handling fees and other expenses.

Aerosmith has stated that they are glad to have reached the settlement.  Attorney for Aerosmith, Jay Handlin released a statement to the press regarding the band’s sentiment’s to the people of Maui. The statement said that the  “The band is about the music, and that they are glad to be able to resolve this in a way that really focuses on connecting or reconnecting the people of Hawaii with the band and its music.

The settlement also stipulates that all 8,300 people will have all out of pocket expenses paid, regardless of the cost.

The new concert date has not been set yet as Aerosmith is on a North American tour.  The new concert date will most likely be set for either September or October, after Aerosmith’s tour comes to a close.
