Crisis Talks Prevents Splitting Of Aerosmith
April 9th, 2010Aerosmith held an emergency crisis talk in February to save the band from splitting up. The move to hold the talks came after Steven Tyler had announced that he planned to take a two-year hiatus from the band before quitting the band.
“There was management there. (We were) all lawyered up,” he told the Boston Herald. “There was a lot of sort of reconciling and processing feelings and stuff. Everyone said how they wanted things to be in the future and it became clear that, for everybody, the coolest thing to do would be to resolve things with the band.
“The phone was ringing. People wanted to see the band. We finally realised, even with all the bullshit flying around, that there was a beautiful thing right there if we had enough sense to grab it.”
Hamilton also mentioned that Steven Tyler going into rehab for an addiction to painkillers helped to keep the band together.
“(It was an) intensive sobriety treatment (programme),” he added. “He took a really big step and it was really great.”
The band have since announced a European tour taking in a show at London’s O2 Arena
and a headline slot at this summer’s Download Festival alongside Rage Against The Machine and AC/DC.
